Three live websites: a writing app for LitRPG authors, a water damage restoration company in Toronto and a commercial landscaping company in Vaughan. For each one, we cover what the client needed and how we built it.

01 Web app

WriterBound

Our role
Product design, front end, back end
Built with
React, Python API, Patreon OAuth

LitRPG authors keep track of a lot on top of the story itself. Character stats change from chapter to chapter, and skills, items and fights all need numbers that add up. Most authors manage this with a spreadsheet open next to their manuscript. WriterBound brings all of it into one app.

Character names are highlighted in the draft, and hovering over one opens that character's sheet with their current stats. There's a battle board for planning fights turn by turn, so the numbers in the text stay consistent. When a chapter is ready, the author can publish it to a reader portal for their Patreon supporters.

For the landing page, we showed the app itself (an example draft, a character sheet and the battle board) so writers could see how it works before signing in.

02 Local business

Delta24 Restoration

Web design, local SEO, copywriting

Most people who land on a water damage company's website are dealing with a problem right then, often a flooded basement. They want to know if the company handles their situation, how soon someone can get there and roughly what it'll cost. The company's history can wait.

So the phone number is the most visible thing on every page, and there's a short form where people can describe what's happening and ask for a callback. Right underneath are the things that help people trust a company they've never heard of: IICRC certification, help with insurance claims and the company's Google rating.

On the search side, the site has its own page for each service and for each area covered across Toronto and the GTA, plus guides that answer common questions. Every page has its own title, description and schema markup.

03 Local business

Goats Landscaping

Our role
Web design, bilingual SEO, ongoing maintenance
Built with
Cloudflare Workers, D1 database, Email Routing
Bilingual siteQuote form + databaseMaintenance

Goats Landscaping handles grounds maintenance and snow removal all year for condos, townhouse complexes, plazas and industrial sites. Their customers are mostly property managers, and they usually compare a few contractors before signing anything.

The site gives them what they need to compare: detailed service pages, a separate commercial section and photos from real job sites. Quote requests are saved to a database and emailed to the owner as soon as they come in. A lot of their clients are Chinese-speaking property owners, so the main pages are in Chinese as well.

We still look after the site. We add pages when the company adds services, and we keep an eye on how it ranks for searches like commercial snow removal in Vaughan.
